Coaching is
the kind of
one-to-one,
nonjudmental,
unwavering
support that enables you to accomplish much more than you would on your own!
 

How does having a coach differ
from Therapy, hiring a Consultant,
or talking with a good friend?

Let's suppose, for example, that a Client wants to learn
how to ride a bike

A Consultant...
describes the bike, it's features,
it's durability, the importance of angle/height of seat and handlebars then gives the client a handbook about bike riding and wishes
him/her luck.
 
A Therapist...
helps the client reflect on
times in the client's past that required courage and risk taking. The therapist deals with things in the conscious and unconscious that might prevent the client from either trying or succeeding at riding the bike.
 
 
A friend...
will cheer the client on but may not have adequate time or understanding of the client's particular challenges and may lack the resources, expertise or patience necessary to support the process all the way through without it taking a significant toll on the friendship.
 
  A Coach....
says, "If you want to ride, hop on the bike. I'll
run along beside you until you get stabilized
at riding and feel secure and confident."
